Ange gasped, utterly appalled at how Kishou was treating the mare. She gasped again, however, when she felt the air get knocked out of her in a single, sudden blow as she was knocked into a pillar. She hadn't even seen the assailant, and wondered if she wasn't going crazy again. It happened, sometimes. But she couldn't catch her breath to chastise him. In fact, she could hardly breathe at all.
Kala spoke only in whispers. "Stupid faerie whore." She brought her eyes up to meet Kishou's- not really an easy feat, considering the height difference- and grinned wryly. "My son married a bitter enemy, and suddenly I'm the coward." She was pleased that very few people seemed to notice that she'd nearly knocked their queen unconscious, and those that did were hurriedly taking her away to be seen to. "Anyhow, is it so much for a mother to wish to see her son? And what of this... party. I certainly hope their child is nothing like her abomination of a mother." She slipped deeper into the shadow when a guard passed, then grinned when he didn't seem to notice her. She envied the longshoreman his dark coat, that she might blend into the shadows better.
"Besides, you're certainly not one to go to for parenting advice." She, of course, blamed everything on everyone else. But particularly Crypt, for leaving, and then dying. If he hadn't, maybe so many things would have been different...
Well, shit, Nyct thought. Kishou was, once again, being an absent prick of a father and ignoring the filly who'd needed him most. She, too, wasn't much of a mother, but at least her last surviving child was speaking to her- and she'd at least grown up with her father. "Lilly." She spoke softly, her voice even and gentle. It surprised her, but hanging out with her air-headed sister did have its advantages. Mostly, she could deal with other people without immediately setting them on fire. "I know you're angry. And I know you'd rather not cause a scene, so let's take one of these Enchantimals and have you expend your magic on it in the courtyard." She levitated a particularly happy stuffed bear towards the teenager.
"Unless, of course, you think you can cool your temper down?" Inwardly, the mare was curious to see exactly how much power the young mare had- but Ange never let her goad the teenager on to test it out. And even Nyct knew it was a bad time to try it out, even if she was intensely curious. She narrowed her serpentine eyes, weighing the situation. The stuffed bear wriggled around, trying to attach itself to Lilly's face but falling short because of Nyct's grip on it.
"I LOVE YOU HUG ME PLEASE!"
Pechavi was delightfully unaware of the tension building around her. There was so much laughter and merriment! "Daddy, I'm having the best time! I know you were nervous, but everything seems to be going very well!" She let herself smile, and it was unrestrained and genuine. "And... horseplay, Daddy? Really?" She groaned good-naturedly. "There's no funny business going on, I promise. Not that Toraniko or Lizzie would let it happen, anyhow. Seriously, it's like Aunt Nyct threatened them or something. They're really protective." As she spoke, she saw her familiar and her mother's guardian speaking in hushed whispers.
"The only way that over there could look MORE suspicious would be if your Glyph got involved." She loved the big bird, but she also recalled how often he tried stealing her food. She wasn't entirely certain he even had the mental faculties to conspire with the other two royal companions, but that would make it even more suspicious. She couldn't help but giggle, given the image.
