Cute, obnoxious... xD
Mem shrugged- if she didn't have her GPS (purchsed from the Space Station, of course), she would get lost when she went to pick up her mail. She voiced this, adding It's better than being swept up by a wave and getting into the Cove that way! She picked up into a light trot, trying to avoid the greasier residents of Krawk Island. She'd literally had no idea that this crosshatch on the map was actually THIS crowded!
The mare's eyes nearly popped out of her head as a loaded trailer full of bread (she hoped) was upended by a very angry pirate- the 'regulars' on the isle didn't seem to notice, and seeing as she already looked out of place, the Island Peophin ignored it as best she could. The tourists were easily noticed by the fact that they were rubbernecking to see what all was happening between the trailer's owner and the pirate. I would hate to be the owner of that bakery, she said to Felicity. Or, at least, the hackney owner- he's gonna get a new one when the baker finds out what happened!

You know, you're really making yourself as inconspicuous as possible, Felicity hissed, starting to grow annoyed with Mem's complete lack of stride for the daily happenings on Krawk Island. Sweet Fyora, one little bread stand wasn't even something worthy of a glance, let alone an all-out boggle. Isn't your father a pirate or something? You should be used to stuff like this. Maybe she'd made too any assumptions; perhaps Mem's father was some sort of wussy gentleman pirate or something. Neopoints could buy you anything nowadays, even a notorious reputation.

Mem's ears flicked back at the sarcasm- but at least she recognised it. She would, too- normally, in her own element, it was the one advantage she had over others. Yeah, but I don't COME here. My dad didn't start pillaging and plundering until after I moved out, she explained.
As they got closer to the 'Cove, Mem stopped dead in her tracks. She heard screaming, ranting, and a bit of whimpering- all signs of someone she really didn't want to see. At all. Oh, son of a-
Blithering idiot! You let an entire crew capture OUR gains, and yet you stand here, refusing my crew passage and sale of merchandise?! The muscular stallion began thrashing priceless items at the hapless pirates who ran Smuggler's Cove- a Grey Faerie Doll shattered against a cave wall, sending other pirates in a frenzy to try and collect the broken pieces- as if it might cause the once priceless item to be worth something again. Refuse us again- and the Super Attack Pea gets it.
...had to do it eventually >D Sorrov just sort of... popped up, likely because I've been repressing him so much XD

Oh come on, Felicity muttered with annoyance when she heard the squabbling voices in the Smuggler's Cove. Was there one place on Krawk Island that wasn't being destroyed by someone or another? Usually Smuggler's Cove was fairly peaceful - it was sort of an unspoken rule that the business was kept clean there, cosnidering the nature of the Cove's merchandise.
Apparently, this pirate who was raising hell wasn't aware of that. And one look at Mem's face explained everything. That's your father, isn't it? Felicity asked blandly, pointing directly at the stallion who had the pirates of the Smuggler's Cove scared like little girls.

iFail. Been deep-cleaning the house and haven't had time for internetz. Mem nodded slowly, not bothering to hide her face. She was doomed- and so were the blokes who ran the place if her dad didn't cut it out. This was, after all, their livelihood. DAD. WHAT. ARE. YOU. DOING. She reprimanded him, and immediately the stallion's face went from cruel to soft... and then just plain embarrassed. He was not, of course, embarrassed by his actions- he was embarrassed because Mem had to see him like that. If these filthy, crapeating goat-mongers were any good at their jobs, none of this would happen. At the tip of his hoof, there was a very tiny, green object with a red cape. He looked about ready to throw it at any one of the pirates huddled in the cove, and not one person doubted he'd do it. Very pleasant- and surprising- to see you here, Memory. It almost looked like a contradiction- the stallion was poised to attack with one of the most powerful items known to Neopia, and he was holding a cordial conversation with his daughter. Unbelievable.Mem stared. She couldn't believe it- her dad was actually a jerk. Put that damn thing down. Just because you supply a quarter of the Cove's merchandise doesn't give you th' bloody right ta bully th' men who work 'ere! Her voice had risen- and her accent had thickened as it rose. It wasn't an accent she liked, which was why she'd attempted to get rid of it. Her cheeks were a faint crimson colour at this point (not that hard, as she was already a faint pink)- how could Sorrov claim he was a 'gentleman pirate' when really, he went irate like this? This would be longer if I wasn't addicted to Habitarium now. Thanks for that. XD.

ooc | Sorry for the delay myself... I suddenly had a lot going on in school. I should be more free for awhile now, though. =) AND BUAHAHAHAHA. I am slowly but surely working my way up to level 50 so I can make muchos money. >33333
ic | Felicity gazed in what looked like sudden admiration at Mem's outburst. Somehow she hadn't expected that kind of talk to come out of the mare's mouth! Ha, for all the show she put on, she didn't seem to have had the fine upbringing one would assume. She wondered how long it would take for this stallion to notice her standing behind Mem - if he even cared about a random Lupess, of course. She wasn't very perturbed by his outbursts or his obvious threats to blow the entirety of Smuggler's Cove sky-high... she'd seen stuff like that for years now.

I'm 2k away from level 24 and loving it, even if I did watch my original six P3's kick off today ;_;
It didn't take long. It was one thing for his daughter to blow up at him in front of his crew- that was nothing new- but in front of a stranger...? That was downright embarrassing. Sorry if my daughter has... dragged you along on one of her little exploits. Like a day spa. She's prone to taking women who simply know the ropes better than she does and gussying them up. The pirates breathed a collective sigh of relief as he set the SuAP down, which made Sorrov's cranberry coloured ears twitch in annoyance.
My name is Captain Sorrov, of the Fortune, he said with a bow. It typically impressed people.
Mem's ears twitched, as well- but only at the mention of his ship and title. Dad. This is Krawk Island. Everyone is a ship captain or corsair or has a funky name. You. Are. Not. That. Impressive. She rolled her eyes, knowing by Felice's earlier attitude that Sorrov would fail to even remotely amuse her. As her facial muscles began to twitch, she was ready to leave before she had a stroke. Shopping for shiny, rare objects was great- unless your father happened to be the one supplying all the merchandise.

ooc | Now that I'm in the higher levels, they keep dying off. It's really disconcerting. D: Then I have some P3s I accidently hatched that I WANT to die, but they won't! XD
ic | Felicity raised her eyebrows at the sudden attention. Surprised though she was at being noticed that quickly, she was still unimpressed. Maybe something to do with the fact that he had been screaming his head off like a child just moments before... Yes, I've heard of you, captain, Felicity replied coldly, taking a step forward as she spoke. Upon first meeting Mem, she may have agreed wholeheartedly with Sorrov's patronizing words, but now she knew Mem a bit better. Your... notoriety... precedes you. Her tone was icy enough to freeze fire. Maybe Sorrov would take the hint and leave.

aldkjflkas;djfklasdjflkas I got locked out of my Habitarium at level 40 T_T -seethe- And then died on Neoquest II InSaNe. -playing on Evil again because at least that way she can get another prize at the end- xD At least now I have more time to draw and RP- I actually got another BC trophy on Aerlliin, too. But I miss my bugs No more surprised out of the group would be Mem. While she was the type of mare who would normally scoff at Felicity's defensive pose, the fact that it was for *her* touched her. She said nothing, watching the exchange. The only other person who usually had her back like this was Eva- or other adult stars, but that was usually when someone was getting ripped off or ripped on.Totally used to cool intonations and ice daggers being aimed for his heart, the stallion- as usual- brushed it off. People took him either way- they hated him or feared him, which he didn't mind. Impressive, he said, now a fair bit relaxed. Even with my tantrums, I'm no worse, nor any better, than any other captains on the sea. His attempt at being humble was miserable- he actually was pretty good- fair and just, the two had simply caught him at the worst possible moment. Upset at losing a quarter of his profits, tired from battling a storm near Mystery Island all night and early into the morning, and then fending off a rival pirate gang soon afterwards had left the normally gentle stallion in a tizzy. He knew that asking Mem's forgiveness for being so brusque would be pointless- so he didn't bother. He knew, also, that the Lupess- what the bugger was her name?- would likely be the same way, if she'd been hanging out with Mem all day. He'd certainly not make any comments about their personalities again, that was for sure.
Screw it. As apologies for my... earlier behavior, you ladies may have anything you wish from uh... what's left of the product. He took a graceful bow, knowing full well that this still wouldn't get him on either female's good side. It's a peace offering, not a bribe. He felt he had to add that in to avoid being slapped.

ooc | Wait, how did you get locked out?! D=
Felicity raised an eyebrow at Sorrov's word: Impressive. As if she sought his praise or good word - whath did it say about a person who impressed a gruff pirate, after all? The whole reason Felice hadn't been taken aback by Sorrov was because, as he'd said, most pirate captains were like him. And you sort of saw the lot of them living on Krawk Island, for Fyora's sake.
Hm... anything? the Lupess repeated when Sorrov had finished speaking, her eyes moving over to the pile of goods that Sorrov had not destroyed. Felicity certainly didn't have enough pride - or money - to refuse free stuff. She slowly made her away over a few paces in order to get a better view of the wares. Do you have any suggestions, captain? Felicity inquired, her cold eyes moving back up to Sorrov.

I think I got locked out because of some sort of glitch- I guess a bunch of people on Premium are having the same issue. Everything loads, but the Habitarium is static and you literally can't do anything. I think my bugs are all dead by now. Relaxing a bit, Sorrov gestured towards an untold wealth of items- mostly magical, they could render an opponent unconscious, make its wearer invincible or a stunning beauty. He looked confused for a moment in his gesture, and then went to the back of the supply stock. Thyora's Tear- it can be worn both as a weapon, or a priceless artifact of beauty. No harm can come to its wearer, and I'm told that even in the most dreadful of situations it, quite literally, gets a mind of its own. He looked at the object lovingly- there were so few in existence that they were priceless. He paused for a moment, setting the weapon back in its case. Again, he looked perplexed, seemingly for no reason at all. But it's really up to you- my crew will gladly explain what each object does, its value, or whatever questions you may have. He left off the fact that some items were a double-edged sword, feeling it unnecessary to scare the crap out of anyone.Oh, yes, that was just like her father- offer up a peace offering and pretend it never happened. She wasn't quite sure if she wanted to laugh or cry- this was pretty much her childhood being played out again. Except it was usually Noir that got this treatment. I won't be taking anything. Putting a bandage on a wound doesn't always help with the infection, she spat, putting an emphasis on the last word. While she was usually all for free and beautiful things to add to her collection, she didn't much like it when the item in question was given because the person felt bad. The whole thought process made her feel sick to her stomach- she felt no grudge against Felicity for being interested in a gift, not at all. Why hurt a friend just because she was angered by the gesture?((note: I had no idea Mem held this much resentment for her father. XD. I'm just gonna blame it on Noir being the golden child despite being a complete tool. YAYPSYCHOLOGY))

ooc | Aw geez, that sucks! D: Are we NFs? If you need eggs or anything, let me know whenever the bug (no pun intended) gets fixed and I'll help ya out. =)
ic | As Sorrov blathered on about all the dangerous and lethal wares in the cove, Felicity couldn't help but notice that Mem looked even more put out than ebfore, if that was even possible. And she could guess the reason why. Look, I'm not stupid, Mem, the Lupess said in an undertone. Sorrov's back was turned to them, and Felice had a feeling that he was far too caught up in his wares to notice her whispering. I'm not bought over by one measley gift. But I am not prideful enough to say "no" to some free loot. She winked. She was a barmaid, after all - knowing how to take advantage of people was pretty much second nature to her.
Hmm, the Thyora's Tear is incredibly legendary, Felicity said once Sorrov had stopped to take a breath. She kept her voice light and interested, but slightly aloof. It was obviously leading up to some sort of challenge. But it's far to unpredictable. I'm not at all interested in the mystique, really. She sniffed. If I'm in trouble, I'd say it's better knowing exactly what I can do to defend myself instead of relying on some mysterious power. Have any magical items that can reliably blow an enemy to Moltara and back?

sorryisuck
Mem, admittedly, was intrigued by which item she'd pick. I won't hold it against you. You didn't grow up with his 'gifting', after all, she said lightly. It just grows a fair bit... old, after a while. Mem's face contorted slightly in a way that was not at all flattering, then righted herself when Sorrov looked up again.
Sorrov listened carefully to what the mare was describing- Blow up. AH-HA! he exclaimed, startling everyone in the vicinity who hadn't been paying attention. He leaned in, an eyebrow lifted. I have just the thing. It isn't brought here that often, it's that rare, but it's a beaut. He carefully walked over to a crate (he hadn't the foggiest idea where he'd dropped the Super Attack Pea and stepping one one generally put one in the hospital for a bit), opening it gingerly and with much excitement. He lifted up a bunch of grapes, nearly giggling in his excitement. THESE babies are exactly what yo-
Grapes, Dad? Really? What, do you hit people with them and- OH MY FYORA, GRAPE JUICE DOES NOT COME OUT OF CLOTHING. GET THAT AWAY FROM ME. She ran behind Felicity, cowering as if the grapes might come out and attack the silk she was carrying on her back. Or her carefully manicured hooves, which were currently covered in mud, anyhow.
Sorrov stared at his youngest child, tilting his head in a rather WTF fashion. The Grapes of Wrath will do much more than stain your clothes, love.
sorry that sucked so bad. It's like 90F out and I may be dying from it. XD

ooc | Hey I just got a fantastic idea. What if Sorrov - perhaps unwittingly - gives Felicity an item that has some kind of curse or something really bad that comes along with it? Then she and Mem would have to figure out whatever the heck is going on and stuff. Lol totally sketchy on the details there but d'you get the idea? XD
Felicity reached out and palmed the Grapes of Wrath that Sorrov offered as gingerly as possible. Her eyes widened as she stared down at them. Could grapes really do that much damage? It was kind of hard to imagine. And who wanted to carry around grapes as a weapon? Maybe her expectations were completely wrong.
I'm guessing you're not an expert in weaponry either, Mem, Felicity commented, glancing over at Mem after her outburst with a wicked smile. Felicity might have been dubious as to the Grapes of Wrath's power, but she was far from concerned about them staining her clothes, of all things. Still, it was hard to resist Sorrov's tone, which was working well to persuade Felicity as to the nature of these items.

I love that idea. XD Poor Sorrov... he never does *anything* right. xD
Mem shook her head, grinning now. If it glitters or makes music, I'm all for it. Something that would turn a battle into a veritable food fight is something totally out of my league. She tilted her head, muscles tensing as the Grapes of Wrath seemed to pulsate under their own power. Actually, Mem was quite sure that if they were moving on their own, something had to have been desperately wrong with the quiche she'd eaten earlier. She stared the Grapes down, looking to see if there was anything spectacular about them other than that whole throbbing thing. The whole situation had her ill-at-ease.
What do they do, exactly? Other than make a bad bottle of Port?[/b]
Sorrov chuckled- something he hadn't done in a while. The question is, what can't they do? They dish out both fire and earth damage- nothing can stop it, at least not completely. He moved his feathers out of the way, revealing a fuse. His grin widened when his daughter's jaw dropped. It's not as powerful as the Super Attack Pea, but when people aren't expecting to be attacked by a bunch of grapes... He saw humor in this. Mem's reaction was pretty common, if he were to be honest. He waited for Felicity's response- he was always eager to get the stuff that could explode off of his ship.

Felicity smiled appreciatively at the gesture, but gingerly set the Grapes of Wrath on a nearby stone shelf that jutted out of the cavern wall. I believe I shall pass on the Grapes, she said. She would never admit it out loud, but Felicity was almost like Mem in that she was looking for something a bit... classier. Oh! Felicity felt her paw scrape against something that was lying back on the shelf where she had set down the Grapes. She'd have never seen it from her normal field of vision.
After a minute of pawing back where she had felt the cool metal, Felicity finally pulled out a necklace. The pendant almost reminded he ro fa sun in its construct, but it dark black that shone in the sunlight coming in from the cave opening. In its center, a dark red stone glittered enticingly. Sorrov, what is this amulet? the Lupess inquired, stepping over towards Sorrov and showing him the mysterious necklace.ooc | The amulet Felice found is the Shadow Flower Amulet. I just did a quick search on jellyneo and found something mysterious and pretty. P= items.jellyneo.net/index.php?go=item&showitem=25081

Now THIS was something Mem could appreciate- well, if it wasn't so dark looking. But hey, Felice seemed to like it. It's pretty, at least, she allowed. I mean, you can wear it. She didn't have too much else to say about it- she was sort of dumb-struck that someone as down-to-earth as Felicity would be interested in something so fragile-looking and elegant as the dark amulet.
Sorrov took a glance at it, and looked at it again. I'm not sure what it's doing here, but it's a Shadow Flower Amulet- it's native to Neovia, and tends to be incredibly powerful when used properly. But... He looked concerned, like he wasn't quite sure how to finish. His mind was reeling with confusion. He stumbled over the words No Neopian was ever known to have carried it. He looked almost worried, afraid to give an untested weapon to someone he might actually like.
Mem's eyes started to sparkle. That's amazing- Felicity, you could be the only Neopian EVER to own this- you could surprise the hell out of anyone! She was pretty excited over this thought, obviously- she herself was fond of unique or at least rare items. This particular item was rather beautiful. It looks like that's a three carat ruby in a starburst cut, she announced expertly, and to no one in particular. No one else really cared.

Felicity was tying the clasp and looking into a nearby mirror, turning this way and that to get a better look at the necklace laying on her chest. Shadow Flower Amulet... she murmured. She liked the sound of the name. She hadn't had anything pretty ever since... Years ago, Felicity thought quickly to herself, cutting off where that train of thought had been heading. Perhaps it was vanity, but she couldn't help but clasp the neklance to her throat - she did like it. A lot. Why not take it? When was the last time she'd had anything pretty? This is turning into less vanity and more defiance,[/b] the Lupess mused.
I think I shall take this, Felicity said firmly, turning to look at Sorrov. Thank you for your, ah... generosity. That was really just formality - Felicity really wasn't sure how far this "generosity" of Sorrov's actually extended.[/color]

Mem almost felt proud of the fact that Felice had picked out such an incredible item, rather than some stodgy Battledome equipment thing. She thought the way it glittered in contrast with Felicity's pelt was a rather unique sort of beauty, one not often found in an area the likes of this. She shifted her weight, now eager to get the heck out of Dodge and away from her father. I wouldn't worry about my dad's issues with the necklace, she whispered. I always say that ninety percent of the stuff we worry about never comes to pass, and the other twelve percent is totally out of our hands, anyway. She didn't catch herself on the mathematical mashup, shrugging any niggling feeling off. Now, however, she stated with a sense of grandeur, is the time you show that pretty gem off to anyone who's ever looked down on you and rub it in their freaking faces. Her eyes glittered, showing that while she could be incredibly vain and shallow at times, she was also rather spiteful- but at least this time it was for a remotely good(?) cause.
Sorrov watched his daughter begin to walk away, trying to think of what the amulet meant. When it escaped him, he shrugged. If it's that important, it'll come back to me later. His crew nodded, but each knew they'd be racking their brains for the answer long after they'd bedded down for the night.

Felicity hid a small grin at Mem's mathematical slip-up, but chose not to mention it. Oh - the Lupess said, stopping short as she and her companion stepped out of Smuggler's Cove. The sun had set, and nighttime had come over Krawk Island without her even noticing it. Felicity looked left and right, her eyes suddenly moving sharply. We need to get off the streets soon, she said in an undertone, glancing over at Mem as she spoke. Krawk Island is... unsafe... at night, to put it mildly.
What a bother. Felicity scratched the back of her head, letting her paw rest on her necklace as it lowered. Unfortunately, my flat is on the other side of the island, she said. We must find somewhere else to rest for the night. It was annoying to have to pay for an inn when she had a perfectly good home - well, maybe "perfectly good" was stretching it, but still - elsewhere. But Felicity knew the chances of Mem and herself getting safely back in the middle of the night without being mugged were almost nil.
