Kapeo's History:
High up in the heavens, at the base of Zeus' cloudy palace, several Greek gods were enjoying themselves rather vociferously. Dionysus seemed to be the center of attention- his ruddy cheeks and nose hinted at the sort of fun that the men were taking part in. Poseidon lured a nymph to his side and began to show off to her by making things out of water particles- a flower, a butterfly, a kitten. She seemed amused by this, so Poseidon kept it up. In the background, the Nine Muses sang, danced, and played instruments for the gods while trying to avoid those who appeared frightfully sick. Hermes was already doubled over and emptying his stomach onto a cirrus cloud. Hephaestus had found his way over to Poseidon and clapped him on the back with a mighty hand, poking fun at the god for using mere water tricks to impress a silly little sprite. Poseidon moved to laugh, but the forceful blow that he had received to the back was more than his insides could take. Dionysus had brought his most potent brew, after all. Lurching forward, the grand god vomited violently into the recesses of a great nimbostratus. The disgusted nymph took off and Hephaestus found the whole scene to be most entertaining. Pulling a lightning bolt from a special quiver strapped to his back, he handed it to Poseidon, who wiped his mouth with it and tossed it down into the thundercloud. With a deafening boom, the cloud broke open and a concentrated downpour spilled into a volcanically active zone of the ocean.
Anything that comes from a god like Poseidon has a certain amount of power to it, so the vomit (after mixing with clouds, lightning, ocean water, and lava) began to fizzle and bubble away at the bottom of the sea floor. A curious clown triggerfish swam too close and was instantly sucked into the middle of the toxic-looking mixture. After thirteen hours of simmering away undisturbed, the production of a good night turned into a small, ruby red egg.
This egg rolled about on the ocean floor for days, flowing with the currents and narrowly escaping becoming someone's supper on many an occasion. On the eighth day, the little egg hatched.
The little nymph that Poseidon was fond of was a sea nymph by the name of Calypso, and she witnessed the birth of the little creature. The little horse-fish seemed to be the perfect creation for the god of the sea and horses, and Calypso could not bear the thought of the little thing being alone. Ducking through the waves, she scooped up the little creature and brought him back to her cave. There, she raised him until he could survive on his own, then tearfully, she bade him goodbye and set him free in the vast ocean.
To this day, Kapeo has a fondness for nymphs that is easily explained. While he does believe in and fear the Greek gods, he does not vocalize this in any manner. The little horse-fish is a cocky, rebellious, daring colt who behaves in a fashion that fits his creation. He lives to be the center of attention and will try anything once.

Kapeo's Love:
The only equine Kapeo loves is himself. It would take a strong mare who can resist his charms and send him on a wild-fish-chase to make this prettyboy follow the straight and narrow path of exclusivity.
