((please feel free to jump in with whoever! I've been wanting to RP out this bit of Charm's life))
The very last thing he remembered was Kunnu's worried tones drifting in and out through his ears. The cries of battle had died down, but his heart had been hammering yet, desperately pumping what little blood he'd had left in an attempt to keep him alive.
And alive he must have been. Surely his head wouldn't be aching this badly if he were dead.
Something else was off, though. Something he couldn't quite place. His fingers twitched feebly, brushing against something soft. Something...dry?
Startled, his blue eyes shot open. Sunlight stretched across the wooden beams above his head, through the dark green foliage of decorative plants and vines. Mind reeling, he sat up, taking in the odd surroundings. Blankets fell away from his shoulders and chest, which were bare save for the thick layer of bandages covering the wounds he'd been dealt.
Where in Neopia was he? And why in Fyora's name was he on the surface?
His ears swiveled back, honing in on a pair of muffled voices steadily approaching his room. He couldn't make out what they were saying; at least not yet, but he felt himself tense in unease.

((oooh, I have a few characters that I have been itching to rp, but their characters aren't very developed yet, so bear with me!))
"Oki, Oki are you going to tell me what's going on? I mean, who's in the bedroom? Why am I bringing him food? Where'd you find him? OKI! TELL ME!" The ebony-skinned 12 year old hated being left in the dark, especially when she was being forced to bring them food and water. She'd much rather be out adventuring, or looking for her best friend, who seemed to have disappeared lately. She wanted to go to Hathor to see if Chavi knew anything about it. Instead, Oki was making her wait on this soldier or something who she'd picked up on her way home from visiting Eri and the rest of the Long Patrol.
Oki and Tuff were an odd pair, Oki being large, silent, and gruff, and Tuff young, bubbly, and extremely chatty. She wanted to know about everything in the world, and loved to explore. Her favorite fedora hung on the hook by the door, and even if she couldn't go all over Neopia, she at least like to explore Mystery Island. She was much happier before Oki took her in, though she sometimes did go hungry or without shelter. But bah, guardians. Who needed them?
"Don't talk his ear off, child." Oki grumbled as she pushed the door open to the man's room. He'd looked positively dreadful when she'd picked him off the battle field. Fortunately for him, she was much, much larger. She wore a dreamcatcher braided into her long silver hair, and wrinkles marred her old face. Her eyes seemed empty, haunted almost, from years of war and loss. She was uneasy with the stranger in her home, but after killing so many herself, she couldn't let another man die for the sake of war. She'd brewed a strong, bitter tea, and instructed Tuff to bring it to him when he awoke. Of course, Tuff never listened, and as soon as she'd gotten the tray with tea and porridge, she'd rushed down the hallway and all but thrown open the door. Though Oki complained constantly about Tuff and being too old to raise children, she got a thrill out of watching the energetic pre-teen. It made her feel more alive, somehow.
"Oh good you're awake!" Tuff never seemed to breathe while she talked, saying everything as fast as possible. "Drink this it'll make you feel better! Oki makes me drink it everyday and it tastes gross but I think it works, and she makes good porridge, and HERE!" She plopped the tray in Charm's lap, grinning broadly and revealing shiny white teeth.

((Yay! And no worries, I'm trying to brush off the dust myself I haven't done any RPing in quite some time. also...Asparafarts...? xD)) Charm blinked dumbly, shocked into silence until the tray landed in his lap.
"Wh..." his throat felt raw the moment he tried to speak, and his voice was gravelly. While he knew there were some peophins who lived and spent much of their time on the shorelines interacting with the surface dwellers, he'd never been one of them. Not because he hadn't wanted to, but he and Kunnu just happened to live deeper and further out in the ocean. There'd never been a need or reason to visit.
Needless to say, being introduced to these two so suddenly was a bit of a shock.
"Where...where am I?" he asked softly, a subtle accent betraying his isolated life on the surrounding kelp farms of Maraqua. More pressing on his conscious was what had happened after he'd passed out. Was Kunnu safe? Their home? Had the dark, mysterious force been chased out? But somehow he doubted these two would know much of anything about it.
Unknown to him was the far greater shock awaiting him beneath the blankets still covering his lower half. He couldn't even begin to imagine what had transpired between his passing out and waking up here."I wonder how that boy is doing..." Marihn sighed, resting her head in her folded arms. She'd been lying draped across a large boulder on the beach for hours it seemed, only a few dozen feet from the house where the stallion had been taken. Though she'd spotted him on the shore, there had been little she could do aside from stay near him until help arrived.
Something had been drastically different about that peophin, and it intrigued her. Of course she wondered what had happened to him to hurt him so, but she also wondered how he'd ended up the way he had. Surely he was the first peophin she'd ever seen with legs like a surface-dweller. The first she'd heard about, even, and she certainly heard quite a few odd things living here.
Worry churned at her insides as dark green eyes glanced up at the distant house again. He hadn't looked well at all. Her tail fin swayed idly back and forth in the warm waters beneath her as she anxiously waited for news of some sort.

((Lol. This is the result of our awesome yahoo conferences...you should join them! =D))
"You're on Mystery Island!" Tuff exclaimed, her red-orange hair bouncing at her shoulders. "Oki found you on her way home and brought you here and DID YOU KNOW YOU'VE BEEN ASLEEP FOR FIVE DAYS? HUH DIDJA?! I thought you were NEVER EVER gonna wake up. Where are you from how'd you get here why MMMMMMMPFPH!" Tuff glared up at Oki, who had clamped her hand over Tuff's mouth, and glared at her. She had SO many questions, and this peophin had obviously been lots of places, places that Tuff wanted to explore and know more about. Maybe if she was really nice to him he'd take her adventuring! She could use her hat again! She swore to herself to take REALLY REALLY good care of their new friend. Anything she could do to try to get out from under Oki's watchful eye!
Oki pointed silently at the door, and gave Tuff "the look." With a huff, the child indignantly left the room, leaving the war veteran behind with the peophin she'd found washed up on the beach. It hadn't been much of an effort to bring him here, but more than it had in the past. She'd have to face it sometime, she was getting older. As if she didn't notice when she looked in the mirror - she actually appeared older than she was. War will do that to you, she supposed. "You'd better drink that tea," she growled. She'd always been short, blunt, and to-the-point.

((ooh? -intrigued- Instant messenger kind of thing? Sounds like fun ^_^))
The stranger's ears twisted back slightly in surprise and unease. Five days...? The very idea was overwhelming; he'd hardly heard a word the youngster had said beyond that. First the attack, and then this; it was almost dizzying, considering the simple life he'd lived up to this point.
Tea, tea... he glanced down at the tray, blue eyes taking in the items there. He felt an aching stiffness in his muscles as he reached for the mug, not really interested in drinking but not daring to disobey that tone of voice either.
Mystery Island was so far from home. How had he ended up here? His stomach churned in anxiety--what could have happened to bring him this far?
"I...don't know the answer to any of those questions," he admitted quietly to the older woman after a period of silence. "I was leagues away from here, last I remember."

((Yeah, download yahoo messenger. We used to have awesome conferences all the time, now it's just me, Frosty, and Yugi (sometimes Ragles). We need new people!! Add me at peshastinsdoll.))
"Well you're here now," Oki replied bluntly. It wasn't clear whether she wanted the peophin here or not. Sure, he was an inconvenience, but on the other hand, it was so monotonous around here that she was grateful for the break. Not only that, this peophin was interesting enough to keep Tuff around for at least a week. She wouldn't have to worry about her charge trying to escape while there was someone interesting around. If anything, he would save her from a lot of running. "What's your name, son?" She asked more kindly, though it came across awkwardly. She was used to giving orders and being obeyed, not asking questions. Any questions she did ask were usually military-related.

As blunt as she was, Charm knew she had a point. Still, some of his worry showed through his eyes. The fate of his family and home weighed heavily on his mind.
Her sudden awkwardness was not overlooked, and he found himself wondering exactly what this woman was thinking. He didn't want to be an inconvenience, but as far as he knew he had no real way of moving from this spot.
"Charm," he responded quietly. "and thank you, for tending to me. I hope I haven't been a nuisance."

"Don't worry about it. If anything, you've kept that child entertained for the past week. Saved me from a lot of running after her. She thinks she's an adventurer. Wants to go explore the world at the ripe old age of twelve." She looked down at his mug of tea, which still hadn't been touched. She was impatient when her orders weren't obeyed the first time; she didn't get to be a Major General by letting people slide on their duties. Still, years after the war had softened her some. "It's not poisoned, you know," she snapped a little more rudely than she meant. She wrinkled her nose in irritation. "Charm," she responded. "My name is Waroki. You may call me Oki, if you wish. The little cretin is Tuffaluffigus, or Tuff. You might have noticed she's a bit...hyperactive."
Tuff bounced around the kitchen. The stallion in the bedroom seemed hurt, or something. He seemed sad too. Cookies always made her happy, so she happily spilled flour and sugar all over the kitchen, whipping up a batch of the-most-awesomest-ever-fantastical-chocolate-chip-cookies. She always put EXTRA sugar in them. That made them even more awesome-r. Chavi had introduced her to cookies - she had a never ending supply of sweets in Hathor, since the Palace cooks doted on her and gave her whatever she wanted, much to her mother (and her dentist's) dismay. Ever since then, Tuff LOVED cookies. Her upbringing was a strange one - she didn't have parents, for she was born out of the magma from the Tyrannian volcano. Her life had been quite dull and boring until one day, a faerie peophin who called herself Aerliin nearly fell into the lava pit of Tuff's volcano. She and Liin had become fast friends, and Liin convinced her to go adventuring - that was all fine and dandy until Tuff had decided to visit Mystery Island alone, and Oki had found her. For some reason the old lady thought Tuff needed a PROPER home. Even though she was twelve, her social interaction left something to be desired - it was more on the level of an 8 year old than a pre-teen. She was an information sponge, loved asking questions (she didn't care so much about the answers, she just liked to hear herself talk), and she loved sugar.
