Cold-Bitter-Intelligent-Powerful-Short Tempered
Who is more foolish, the child afraid of the dark or the man afraid of the light? ~Maurice Freehill
Name: Xylia
Nickname: Xy, Lia
Name Meaning: English variation of Greek version meaning forest-dweller
Species: Horse/human shifter
Gender: Female
Age: Mid/late 20s
Orientation: Straight
Relationships: Single
Physical Appearance: Dark brown coat with green hair, heavily feathered legs and black hooves. Her hair is short and shaggy with a long forelock which covers the right side of her face. Her eyes do not have pupils and are a solid pale gold. Green vine like markings curl over her neck, below her eyes and along her back. The Chinese Earth symbol is on both shoulders, with small vines beneath, and a single band marking around her front left leg. See picture for visual aid.
Weapons/Powers: Xylia is very experienced with her elemental control over earth and plant life. She is very strong physically as well as mentally. She rarely uses physical weapons.
Personality:Very stubborn, strong willed and opinionated, she and has a short temper and the power to back her threats. Doesn’t back down or give up with out a fight, hates the idea that women are naturally “weaker” than men. Annoyed easily (especially by the stupid, arrogant or ignorant), she will be rude and harsh, but never cruel. She is quick to assume and not afraid to be honest, highly sarcastic. If she doesn’t see the need to talk, she won’t. Xylia does not do well in social settings that require her to interact with others but is quite clever when it comes to getting what she wants if threats don’t work or are unacceptable for the situation. She is hypocritical, hating the powers she was given but knowing how to use them with a high level of expertise. To those she cares for she is a fiercely loyal friend with a strong sense of morals and duty. And can also be playful with a witty sense of humor. Fairly low self esteem doesn’t see herself as pretty but isn’t bothered by it.
History: To understand Xylia you first have to understand that the land she came from was ruled by alliances and war. Xylia's home land was given the power of earth and she herself was gifted with the power to control plant life and earth itself at a young age. While the rulers of her kingdom were delighted to use her as a new weapon, the view of the country's traditional people was the opposite. Everyone around her shunned her as a monster, her gift had transformed her; darkening her skin, changing her hair to a funky green with strange markings on her body and eyes to a solid gold. She quickly learned to despise her gift and was therefore cursed by her overseeing goddess for disrespect, confined to live within set boundaries and perform tasks appointed only by the goddess. As time went on, freedoms were earned and lifestyles were established but tensions continued. Feng ultimately dragged her from her forests into the "real" world, something she is thankful for but, of course, would never admit.
