Name
Gordan Marshall
Nickname
Gord, Gordie, Big D, the General, Ford
AKA
The Dragon
Age
53 years. He has only had a human form for 41, though, and that is what age (give or take a few years) he appears in human form.
Birthday
He doesn’t know, but his family always celebrated it on June 15th, the day he was officially adopted.
Height
Natural Form: 6’9”
Human: 5’6”
Species
Genetically modified Gambol’s Lizard
Looks
Do Not Stick In Children - Gordan Sketch - Hard Night's Work - Really Old Ugly Picture
Right now I don't have any good pictures of his human form, so here's a description:
-5'6", extremely athletic build, light brown short hair sort of like this although it comes forward over his forehead a bit more, right eye is yellow, left is green, has what I would call a 'soft' face and jawline, and you can tell his emotions very easily from his face.
Sexuality
Straight
Status
Married 20 years and counting!
Occupation
Gordan doesn’t really hold a normal job. He is financially sound for the rest of his life (and has a large amount of his father’s company’s stocks as well as a board position). His ‘job’ is as The Dragon, who could be called a super hero… or a vigilante… or, some say he’s a crazy lizard guy that thinks he’s above the law. Whatever you think, that is what his fulltime job is. He doesn’t get paid. He is feared by even the people that he saves. He risks his life for them anyway.
Personality
Seeing how Gordan didn’t grow up in a usual social environment, he’s not the best at socializing. He’s a bit standoffish and introverted at first, but he forces himself to talk and be at least partially friendly. He’s very sarcastic, especially when he’s pissed or in a lot of pain. To his friends he’s extremely loyal, generous, and helpful. When he’s in a good mood he can be incredibly fun (still sarcastic though) and he likes to give his friends a good time. One thing about Gordan though, is that he is angry a lot of the time and he says nothing about it. He hates when people are afraid of him and don’t say thanks when he saves them, but he hardly shows his anger about this. He ends up keeping a lot of his emotions tied up inside him—usually beating the crap out of people is his stress relief, but there’s only so far that goes, and occasionally Gordan blows up about everything at the wrong time.
Family
His adoptive parents (James and Alicia) died when Gordan was eighteen (real age 28). They had extended families but they didn’t take to him and he wasn’t going to waste his time trying to play nice for them. His family is his wife of 20 years, Dianna, and his only daughter, Alicia.
Friends
Alexander – the only friend from his high school gang that he’s kept in regular contact with. He’s a lawyer, and as the family lawyer that took care of all of James and Alicia’s, and then Gordan’s issues got older and retired, he took over Gordan’s legal affairs. He’s known about Gordan ever since high school, but he doesn’t totally approve of his ventures as the Dragon. He’d never give Gordan up or tell anyone about him, of course.
Jad – Gordan’s best friend, who has seen the best and the worst of Gordan. Jad was originally from the island Gordan took his ‘vacation’ on. Seen as somewhat of an outsider on the island, Jad was happy for Gordan’s friendship and understanding (due to his being gay in a less than accepting society). He was also more than happy to leave with Gordan, to start a new life in Delta City. With Gordan’s financial, legal, and emotional support Jad’s bloomed into a confident adult, and is now a detective on the DCPD.
Maggie – Maggie’s a nurse that works at Delta City Hospital and has known about Gordan since forever (which is about how long she’s been at the hospital). Gordan’s convinced her to keep track of his memories (he’s got a large catalogue of dvds… long story short the matrix acts as a recorder of Gordan’s every waking moment—the scientists used this feature extensively, Gordan not so much—and Maggie organizes them). She’s been sort of like Gordan’s cool auntie that understands everything in that quiet, knowing way. She’s incredibly kind, helpful, and loyal as a friend.
Likes
Flying, the Discovery Channel and Nat Geo, grapes, rock music, the nurses at the City Hospital, mystery novels, working out, sparring with Jad.
Dislikes
Being shot/stabbed/punched or otherwise beaten or crushed, guns, swimming (he does not float), cops when they get all uppity or butthurt about the Dragon, not having the same rights as humans, talking heads on TV that talk shit about him, feeling like he’s missed out on something due to restrictive rights.
Powers
- Gordan was born with the Athanasian occurrence-- an abnormality that gives its carrier immense resistance to trauma, and an increased healing capacity. He can take a bullet, in fact he can take quite a few before he falls over. He can handle the through-and-throughs just fine, it’s the ones that stick that are a problem—his body can’t heal if the offending object is not removed.
- Gordan was so successful as an experiment that the scientists created a set of wings that he can recall from the matrix on his arm. Press a button and voila, wings! xD
- Gordan’s skilled in hand to hand combat—he received training while undergoing the changes to his body, and as a kid he was always in some kind of martial art.
- Gordan’s also stronger than a regular human being, but seeing how he mostly has human anatomy now he’s not as strong as he would be in a completely natural form. And he still has to work out to keep his fitness level up.
Weaknesses
- Mostly knives, specifically really sucky ones that break off inside his body. If the points aren’t removed then Gordan can’t heal.
- The matrix on his arm. He needs it to change forms, bring forth his wings, etc. Gordan has the basic changes down to just thinking and the matrix will respond, but it’s still the ‘watch’ as he calls it that forces the changes. If he doesn’t have it on, he cannot switch forms or do much of anything.
- Time – Gordan can only stay in human form for about 20 hours before it starts getting painful and breaks down from the inside out. Being human is not natural, and after an extended period his cells start deteriorating. It’s quite painful for him and if left long enough would probably kill him.
History
Gordan is the product of dozens of years of genetic experiments on a bipedal reptile called 'Gambol's Lizards'. He was born as one of these lizards within the private zoo and ranch of a very rich man. This man allowed scientists to take batches of these reptiles for their experiments to genetically alter Gambols into a more human creature. What for? Military purposes, of course. A 7-foot soldier with the strength of ten men, excellent tracking abilities and reflexes is a very persuasive idea.
Gordan was one of these 'lucky' reptiles chosen. Ever since he hatched, he was periodically captured and given genetic treatments. His only name during this time was G-12, the last of a batch of a dozen reptiles. Most of the batch died early on, their bodies unwilling to accept the heavier doses of Human DNA. Gordan survived, and became the scientists’ focus.
ATHANASIA
noun
deathlessness; immortality.
The scientists discovered that Gordan had the extremely rare Athanasian Occurrence--an abnormality that gives its carrier immense resistence to trauma, and an increased healing capacity. Knowing this, the scientists attempted to go further with their experiments. In his now anthropomorphized reptilian form the scientists created wings for Gordan. The information for his wings would be contained in the matrix attached to his upper left arm (a feature all genetically modified Gambols--or GMG--need to manage their forms). With a click of a button wings will appear from Gordan's shoulders.
All the reptiles were given a human form, copied from the bodies of cadavers, since the scientists were unable to create a human body from scratch. A three-year-old boy's cadaver (which was later cremated and returned to the boy's family) was used as the model for Gordan's human form.
After funding was cut, this particular firm of scientists stopped their experiments. The first reaction of the scientists was to destroy their living work, but enough people objected and the GMGs were saved, in a way. Their existence was made known to the general public and they were given limited 'human' rights, and were released into society. Gordan stayed in an orphanage until his human form was five (in actuality he’d had his human form only three years, while he was 15 years in total. Confusing, I know), when he was adopted by James (owner of a very successful construction company) and Alicia Marshall (board member at Delta City Hospital).
Gordan grew up a lot in highschool, got some friends, and even a couple girlfriends. One in particular he had for quite a while, long enough to get up the nerve to ‘reveal’ himself. It didn’t end well, let’s say. And it kind of made it hard for women down the line to get close to him.
When Gordan was almost finished highschool, tragedy struck. His parents were killed not a block from their house in an attempted carjacking. Gordan attempted to catch the man that did it, but was severely wounded and to this day the man has not been found. It was after he graduated from highschool that Gordan began contemplating the life of a vigilante. He was angry about his parents' death. He had exceptional physical abilites. For a while, he went out at night in his natural form and saved peoples' lives. But he was neither fully devoted, nor regular in doing this. His parents' deaths left him a very rich person, but Gordan was not able to retain ownership of his fathers' company. The legal rights of GMGs are very limited--basic things like getting a driver's license, voting, going to university, and owning multi-million dollar companies are denied them.
Becoming 'the Dragon' that Delta City knows today took Gordan much more than losing his parents. When he decided he needed a weapon to even the field between himself and the criminally gifted, Gordan flew to Japan to green frog himself a Katana. On the trip back, things went sour. His plane went down, and Gordan found himself on an island, and the natives did not want him there.
Long story short, Gordan fell in love with the woman who found him, Naomi (who was also not a native from the island, speaks English, and is charged with protecting the island from outsiders). But when an incident made the natives reconsider allowing Gordan to live, they ordered Naomi to kill Gordan like she should have when she found him. She nearly did kill him, too. And then Gordan experienced Reversion Syndrome. Even after all the years of treatments and modification, one part of his primitive mind remained. At a point when Gordan is severely injured, like when Naomi almost killed him, this part of his brain forces Gordan's mind essentially to shut down, then 'reboots' with the primitive part of his mind in control. Naomi ended up dead, and he remembers nothing about it. Jad found Gordan and hid him from the wrath of the villagers until Gordan recovered, and managed to fly, island-hopper style back to somewhere he could get transport (with Jad tagging along).
When Gordan got back he got serious about being the Dragon. He’d lost contact with some of his friends, and brought the ones that stuck around closer. And then he met Dianna… but with his previous experiences with women being not all that great, he kept his real self a secret; a different part from his human form. But when Dianna started encountering the Dragon when responding to 911 calls, things changed. Gordan did not tell Dianna until they were in a very bad predicament, which understandably made Dianna a little mad. They separated for a while, but… well they made up, got married… had a kid (a very normal, human kid). They’ve been married for twenty years now.
Random Notes
-Gordan got the nickname ‘the General’ from his high school friends—it’s taken from his initials, GM, or General Motors. Ford is also a joke nickname from his friends, named for (what I assume) is obvious. If people ask his name when he’s out being the Dragon and he expects to see them more than once (like cops or the EMS), he gives them the name Ford xD
-Gordan could have left the island he’d been stranded on at any time, but at that period of his life he didn’t have anything really worth returning to, so he didn’t.
-Gordan gets really quiet and vague when he’s feeling hurt or angry, something that Dianna hates. He always has something to say, but he shuts up and lets it seethe inside; Dianna wishes he’d just get up and scream at something rather than stay quiet.
-Later on (age 55), Gordan goes public with his identity when pressure builds. There is a lot of uproar about it, since Naomi’s death comes to light even though he cannot be tried for it/won’t get extradited for it.
-After ‘coming out’ to Delta City Gordan goes on a bit of a Dragon hiatus, vowing not to do his regular duties until GMGs receive better ‘human’ rights. Alexander is very helpful during this period, as well as the Mayor’s husband.
-No, his name is not spelled wrong. Look carefully and you will see that Gordan is an anagram for Dragon.
RP World
-Gordan is mostly RPed in Delta City in a current-day setting. It’s a large city, about 2 million. Similar to Toronto, I guess xD He can be RPed in other cities if need be, but we’d have to have an excuse for him to be there xD
-Gordan isn't really from a petsite or anything, so I hope it's alright that I post his bio. He's been incarnated on Neopets as a Krawk if that makes it any better xD
-Gordan is currently OPEN!
