((Alrighty gals, here's the result number 1 of the Lost Princess poll. And this is how Aryn gets lost, because she can't up and leave the castle! So sorry for those who thought she was going to be hopelessly lost in the beginning -coughXenacough-))
What a wonderful day!
The day had started out as any boring and old day, sipping tea with her councilors. They had just finished their discussion on the suitor front (sadly, she still had none), which lasted five minutes because Duke Tipplebottom insisted that even though his son just turned eighteen, he would still make a great suitor and King of Aquari. She politely refused at first, but after three minutes of pushing the boy ever closer to her throne...well, the boy was practically in her lap and she was just fed up.
It was after the boy had looked at her with a trying-not-to-be-disgusted look (The nerve! She looked hardly older than he was, despite being at least ten years his senior!) and she had thrown him to the side that the lights were shut off. With a short shriek from her, she was taken by the waist and dragged away from the council room.
She was quickly taken through the grand hall and through the small servant's door. She kept quiet, though the noise in the palace was enough that the neighboring kingdoms could probably hear the distress. The excitement of it all was practically bursting inside her, but she continued to keep it under wraps even after she heard Nero calling out her name.
Out the back door of the servant's quarters, and she was in a crowded city street. Her captor, his face veiled by a mask, called out into the crowd. A stocky Maraquan Uni came towards them, and said captor unceremoniously threw her upon his associate's back.
"Get 'er out of 'ere, and be quick-like. Da boss'll want ta be seein' 'er prettay mug by sundown. Yah got t'at?"
"Alrighty, man. But she's heavier than I thought she'd be fer a Princess..."
The nerve!
"How absurd! I've never had to diet to keep my slim and fit figure, and you should be ashamed to say such a thing about a Queen!"
"Ho shi----, this isn't Princess Amarante! What'er we gonna do, man?"
"Crapcrapcrapcrap, cain't believe we caught da dang Queen! Er, knock 'er out, quick like!"
The Uni turned and bonked against his head against her's, and everything went dark.
---
She awakened on an unfamiliar shore, her captor nowhere to be seen. His associate, on the other hand, was snoring a few feet away.
Aryn was truly ecstatic to be out of the Palace, yes. But as the wheels began to turn groggily inside her head, she realized they could have kidnapped her to...to...take her to an ugly suitor!
The very thought of such a thing happening summoned the fear she had buried inside herself, and she let out a terrified scream.

What a waste.
Snorting to herself, Dothal repositioned the pack on her back. She had spent weeks traveling to Aquari - an attempt to widen her prestige outside the major lands of Neopia - and had promptly been turned away, like a beggar. She had only caught snippets of merchants and others who had also been denied entrance to the capital - the Queen and kidnap were prominent among these snippets - so it was easy to imagine exactly what was going on.
Still, why now? Just when she had arrived, the city had been closed to all incoming traffic while the palace panicked and began its search. Indeed, a waste of time all around. With a sigh, the Peophin mare looked across to the ocean. The road she was on ended at a slight incline, which went down to the beaches and the sea. It was rather pleasant; the salty air reminded her of home. Perhaps she should camp down for the night.
That was when a piercing shriek filled the air.
Dothal stopped in her tracks, head whipping left and right to look up and down the sand. It had come from somewhere off the road! Jumping off the path, Dothal looked around frantically. Where had the scream come from?

((I thought I had replied to this ages ago, sorry!!))
"That better have been bloody well worth it," a rather rough, yet feminine voice snapped. Crisaiah shook her pouch one last time, the knot of sorrow and annoyance tightening just a little more in her gut. That blasted witch had had the most ridiculous conditions under which to perform her magic, not to mention she took just about every last coin Cris had had on her at the time.
Pulling herself out of the water onto the sandy beaches, she shook out her messy dark hair and glanced down at the silver dubloon around her neck with a small smirk. But before she could relish in the prize she had wrestled away from the sea witch a sharp scream caught her attention and flattened her ears to her skull. "What in the-"
Moving around the corner she saw two figures laying on the beach. The first one she saw was female and the one she assumed to be the one that screamed. "Oi, lady, what in the devil's name to do you think you're doing, screamin' like that?" she called out with curious sea green eyes as she moved towards her. Cris's attention was quickly shifted however to the thug looking male sleeping near her.
"You!" she growled, eye narrowing as she flung a rock that bounced off his chest. "You still owe me money for that job in Urta ya filthy sneak!" she yelled approaching with greater speed than before.

Aryn's breath shortened from the energy she had exerted to reach such a loud pitch. She had no sense of her surroundings, and the sand was clinging to her tailfin annoyed her once flawless skin. Whatever was she to do without her attendants? Perhaps, even out in this savage world, she could find others willing to do her a service.
Before she could think further on such matters, her captor was roused by a voice she only heard the end of.
"Well, I would say it is quite obvious why I am screaming!" She exclaimed, "Would you not be alarmed if you were held hostage by this...this...ruffian!"
"Hey now, ladies..." The Uni let out a nervous laugh, "Let's not be hasty...Erm...."
The fellow looked around, searching for an escape while still rattling off, "Hey, my leader deals with all the money, girlie...And this um...er...scene is an unwilling bride to be taken to her suitor! Yes, that's it...that's exactly what is happening!"
Aryn was downright furious with this...this...UGH, she didn't know what to call him, but she couldn't stand the thought of being less than what she was!
"The nerve!" She scoffed as she struggled against her bindings, "Like I would marry such...such trash that employed kidnappers and thieves like yourself!"
She turned to Cris, hoping beyond hope the mare would be an angel and help out a fellow mare, "Surely you don't believe his tale? You must save me from such treachery!"
((Orz, Ruan! Aryn can't move. xD So I didn't know how to add in a reaction to Dothal.))

ooc | Haha, no prob. Dothal's not really at the scene yet, but the noise should attract her. =)
ic | Dothal's ears perked. The feral scream had stopped, but it was replaced with more frantic cries. A high-pitched voice shouting something, though she couldn't make out the exact words. Deciding it was best just to follow the sound, Dothal cantered along the shoreline until she saw light some distance away, nestled amongst some rocks on the sand. It was obvious that's where the sound was coming from.
Picking up her pace, Dothal crossed the distance in a matter of moments. She wedged herself behind a rock, using the shadow to mask her presence. What in Fyora's name was going on? There was a slender mare on the sand, pleading with another Peophin that had clearly just come out of the water, if her damp fur was any indication. There were also two unsavory figures hunched over the mare, whose voice - despite its painful pitch - seemed to be very eloquent. A noble of some kind, surely. Possibly... kidnapped?
The idea flitted across Dothal's mind. Still, too early to tell. Dothal decided to wait a few moments longer to see how this would pan out; she didn't want to jump in like a fool.

The tan mare gave her new companion an amused smirk but didn't say anything in reference to being a hostage. It wasn't like Cris had never been one, but her circumstances were always a bit... different. Her sea green eyes darkened however as the uni hastily explained the situation. "Oh, is that all?" she asked coldly, not waiting for answer. Her sword was out in a flash of movement, deadly tip mere inches away from the throat of the uni. "How stupid do you think I am?" she asked darkly before flicking her head to the side. "You have three seconds to get your sorry excuse for a bilge rat-self out of my sight or I'll run you through," she growled. The silver sword she threatened him with was curved slightly, thin and flexible for use above and below the waves, it never wavered in her steady grip.

The Uni was indecisive on abandoning the operation until she pulled her sword out of its scabbard.
"Consider me gone, missy!" With that, he up and ran out of sight. Better to cut his losses when he and his partner had nabbed the wrong girl anyway. There was always another day!
Aryn watched as the Uni skedaddled out of the picture, but she knew she wasn't out of this yet. This other lady held a sword! What if the fellow mare was not of a kind heart? Oh, cruel fate!
"'Ey girlie, I derno whatcha gettin' at, scarin' off me patna like dat," The other rogue hopped down from the rocks above the beach, "But this 'ere lady gots to get ta me boss, see? I'll give ya a shiny penny if'n ya say ya ain't seen a sight of this'n lady."
His scaled hand hovered over his own sword, ready for a fight.
"The nerve!" Aryn exclaimed once more, "Why, my city would pay more than your pitiful penny to have me returned!"

The satisfied smile that came to her as the first thug booked it out of sight was quickly erased upon hearing the voice of the second. Shifting her body to face the new comer, Crisaiah's face was calm and emotionless as she lowered her sword.
"Oh?" she toned curiously, glancing back at the mare before returning her hard gaze to the male in front of her. "What makes ye think I won't take her myself? I'm sure I can find someone who will pay me more for her than just 'a shiny penny'," she countered mockingly. But as she turned her head to fully look over the object of their argument, Cris gave the mare a playful wink.
A breath later her sword was drawn once again, pointed straight at the thug's neck, as a knife whizzed past his ear. "Your partner was smart to run off. I suggest ye do the same." The threat was clear in her low voice, eyes gleaming at the thought of dancing with the sharp steel held steady in her grasp.

Dothal lurched forward slightly when she saw weapons suddenly drawn. Okay, the situation was pretty clear now! She had no idea who the tied-up mare was, but to Dothal's eyes, both the mare threatening the thugs and the thugs themselve were bad news. When the mare with the knives had threatened the first thug, Dothal moved herself off to one side, still hidden in shadows. As the Uni ran away like the pathetic paid kidnapper he probably was, Dothal suddenly swung in and held out her tail for the unsuspecting fleer to trip over.
Once he was on the ground (I hope you don't mind if I take a little liberty there, Yugs), Dothal slipped her tail around his legs to stop him from fleeing. Listen here, she snarled, growling close to the Uni's ear. You tell me right now who exactly that high-and-mighty Peophin is, and I'll let you go without any trouble. She knew this type - he's revealed himself when he'd run away at the first sight of a knife. There wasn't a doubt in Dothal's mind that he'd spill everything he knew to her.
