The last thing you were expecting was parallel lines of trumpeters. As you watch as a little Peophin walks between the musicians, you also ponder on how they all fit into your bedroom. The little Peophin approaches you with a smile across his little white muzzle, brown eyes shining with the joy of his delivery. He hands you a scroll without a word. He somehow signals to the fanfare to exit the room, and he follows soon after. After you are finished staring at the closed door, you turn your attention back to the scroll. The scroll is sealed with wax, imprinted with an unfamiliar coat of arms. Curious, you break the seal and unroll the parchment and reveal a strange letter:
To the Lucky Lover Who Has Received this Letter, Many congratulations, as you have been successfully paired with a wondrous partner for a stupendous holiday treat. Before you even think of tossing this scroll into your trash receptacle, please take note that this date is sponsored by the Kingdom of Aquari and is free of charge on behalf of the Make-Me-a-Match Foundation. If you enjoy the result of all of their hard work, they except donations in the form of neopoints, doubloons, and free advertising. The date set out for you is tailored to your interests, and your partner chosen by your answers to our wonderful online questionnaire. If you have any complaints, you should revisit your answers and check your honesty before consulting with the MMAMF personnel.
You skim over the rest of this section, as you notice it removes any form of liability on the kingdom and the foundation. After your quick skim, you reach the last paragraph of the letter with all of the information you need:
As you seem like a caring individual, we have set up you and your date as co-leaders in our Holiday fundraiser, Penthouses for Pet-pets. As pet-pets are close to heart in many families, we ask that you station yourselves in Brightvale and ask for donations to help under-privileged pet-pets. The organization accepts monetary, materialistic, and food donations. Donations over 500 neopoints qualify the donator for our members program. We are also partnered with Adopt a Pet-pet, who will have a table set up next to yours. Feel free to help them out if you have the time! The tables are set up in Faerieland, in the shopping district. Your date will meet you at the table at 12:00 this afternoon.
Don’t forget to treat yourselves to some nice coffee afterwards, Queen Arynaiyae Royale of Aquari [/i][/right] ((I apologize for not matching species, but I thought these two would make good pals at least!))

[ooc; lol, you know what they say; Mates before Dates. xD Everything's fine by me! Sorry if this is a bit rubbish, Kit. <3] "But Mother, I can't just--" "Cindy, please." "But--" "You already work more than enough, dear. We will be fine for an afternoon." The girl sighed, adjusting her mother's heating pad gingerly. "Are you sure you'll be okay? You'll call the neighbours if something goes wrong, right?" "Of course, Sigh. The doctor knows." The older Cybunny pats the back of her daughter's hand gently, smiling kindly. "I can hear your ride out there. Go have fun, sweetheart." "...I'll be home the minute it's over."
And that had been that. Here she was, then, pattering awkwardly through the marketplace still clutching the letter, searching for her work station. She'd never even been to Faerieland before, much less on a blind date. She couldn't believe her parents had signed her up for this without even telling her! At least it was only for a few hours; she'd just work late tonight.
Fortunately, it didn't take her long to find the stand and--feeling a little gawky in her somewhat plain blue sundress and straw hat decorated clumsily with a white ribbon and a pale blue flower made of faded velveteen. She'd brought a small woven basket with her containing a packed lunch and a rather empty purse (just in case); but everyone around her was so much better dressed, everyone else belonged here. She was an obvious country girl; at least they would be travelling back to Brightvale fairly soon, as per the letter's instruction.
Fussing with her long, brown hair--had she brushed it enough, she wondered?--she timidly introduced herself to the stall-owners, who seemed to have been waiting for her. A lively Kyrii handed her a donation box and a set of pamphlets, which she thumbed over nervously as she sat down on a nearby stool to wait.

((Pshh it's not rubbish, don't be silly. It's mine that seems to be rubbish, sorry! By the way, we're doing this..anthro, yes?))
"Don't forget the letter captain." "You're wearing that? Seriously? She'll run away with one glance!" "Ralo, Jay, please, I'll be fine!" the young man of their fussing complained. The other two boys at his side exchanged a glance, the youngest of the trio grinning in amusement. "Are you kidding Leo? You need all the help you can get!" the youngest laughed, grabbing his shoulder to keep him from running off. "Oh really Jay? Why is that?" he asked testily. "Simply put sir, you haven't been on a date in quite some time- Jay and I have," the oldest of the three answered instead. "I can't believe this," Leo sighed, running his hand through his hair absently. "Don't!" hissed Jay who swatted his hand away from the navy strands that shone electrically in the light. Giving the pair a tired glare, the captain managed the shove the two off and walk away. "Enough of this, I'm going to be late. See you two when I get back!" Grabbing the letter, the uni quickly departed to meet up with his date. "Gods help him," Ralo muttered with a smile.
He was starting to wonder how he had gotten roped into this situation. Jay and Ralo had surprised him with a blind date as a holiday gift. According to the pair, he was too stressed with responsibilities and needed to relax. Walking along, he couldn't help but laugh quietly to himself with a shake of his head. Despite being their commanding officer, the three had become friends of sorts, perhaps because they were so close in age. Leo was one of the youngest captains in the army after all.
His musings were interrupted as he realized he had finally come to his destination. Pausing for a deep breath, he gathered himself and continued forward with easy strides. He, well really Jay, had chosen to wear dark blue jeans with a light blue sweater, sleeves pushed up, layered over a crisp white shirt. Sharp and classy, yet casual. That and some nonsense about bringing out his eyes and highlighting his sun tanned skin.
Leo glanced around nervously, though he tried his best to hide it, after receiving a stack of papers from one of the stall owners. The Kyrii winked at him and gestured behind him before bouncing off. The tragedy of a blind date, the young captain was realizing, was that he had no idea who he was looking for.

It had not taken long for the young woman to realise she had the same problem; she had no idea who she was looking for and hence, no idea what to do. Was she just going to sit here awkwardly the whole time? What if she got stood up? What if they were creepy? What if they took one look and turned around?
She quelled the girlish worries, telling herself that she wanted to get home as quickly as possible anyway. She... she did, right? It wasn't that she was looking forward to it. Blind dates were silly, and she didn't have the time; it was mad of her family to volunteer her in the first place.
Still, it didn't take her particularly long to pick out someone in the crowd who seemed to be as perplexed as she. Noticing the Kyrii motioning to him in much the same way as he had to her, the young woman steeled herself and rose from her chair.
"Hi! I--um..." ...Oh. Wait. What was she supposed to say? Having never done anything like this before (if she'd even been on a normal date, she couldn't remember it) she was a little uninformed on the conduct. Her best bet was just to be up front and polite, right? "Excuse me, sir. My name is Cindy Rabbit; I don't mean to be rude, but are you my... partner?" She smiled sheepishly (saying date sounded a little unusual, considering he was a perfect stranger). "It's just that I, er... I'd like to get going straight away. Time is money, right?"

Trying not to appear too awkward, Leonardo glanced over the contents of the pamphlets he had been handed, it would help to be familiar with the information after all. A light voice brought his attention back up, it took him half a moment to identify the speaker as a young woman in a simple, but pretty sundress standing next to him. She seemed a bit uncertain, nervous maybe, as she introduced herself. Well, that makes two of us, he thought with smile before introducing himself.
"A pleasure to meet you Cindy," he said with a charming smile; "Please, call me Leonardo." Though his words were smooth and easy, he had to mentally resist saying or doing anything too formal as per the advice of Jay. Normally his words and phrasings were eloquent, he would address her as 'my lady' and even bow. But here the conduct of socializing was relaxed and unspoken. For the first time he suddenly missed the rules of court and the expectations of a leader, for he was truly lost on what to do.
Still, his date had a way of reminding him of what was needed without even realizing it. "Right, of course. Let's get going then my lady," he smiled throughout it all, mentally chiding himself for the slip. With strengthened resolve, he resisted offer her his arm, (because normal people did no such thing to strangers right?) and began to walk with her to their destination.
"Brightvale, correct?" he asked, attempting to move her attention away from his blunders. "Have you ever been there?"

The Cybunny smiled but blushed impulsively; she was unused to being around someone so, well, gentlemanly. She'd grown up in the countryside, after all, in an area where people were simpler on the whole. Still, it was hardly unpleasant to be treated nicely; the young woman felt quite sure that, at the very least, this Leonardo was a good man and one who seemed (fortunately) to be fairly down-to-earth, even if he spoke a little strangely by her standards.
"It's good to meet you, too, Leonardo." She smiled, conscious that repeating the name would help her remember it. The last thing she wanted to do was end up forgetting the poor fellow's name and end up calling him "hey you" or "oi". A row of taxi-carriages awaited at the edge of the square. Sigh presumed they were intended to take one, and gazed down anxiously at the small purse in her basket, wondering if she would be able to afford it. His question snapped her out of her worries.
"Oh, yes!" she said brightly. "I went with my family all the time when I was little. My parents own the Rabbit Family Farm in Meridell; it used to be famous. We went to Brightvale all the time to sell things, but..." She hesitated, averting her eyes a little. It wouldn't do to get too deep into things; she despised the thought of burdening the poor stranger with her problems. After a moment's hesitation, she smiled again, looking back up at him (she was considerably shorter, she noted, and had to tilt her head back just a little). "Well, my mother got ill and my father was injured working the plough... so it was too much trouble to go there all the time. But I love Meridell, so it's fine, and it will be nice to see how things have changed since I was last there. What about you?"

"Ah, so you're from Meridell, as am I," he replied with a smile. Her words sparked a memory, causing the smile to shift to a grin and a light to brighten his eyes, "In fact, I believe I remember visiting that farm once as a child." It was hard to remember if it was her family's farm specifically, he and his childhood best friend had run free across great expanses of the Meridell kingdom in their youth, so he had honestly been to a great number of farms there. But he could recall the name and knew for certain it hadn't been a formal visit. His parents would have never allowed such a thing. Ever polite though he couldn't help but add, "A shame hard times have fallen upon your family, I wish all the best of luck in recovery."
Approaching the taxi-carriages, Leonardo couldn't help but notice his companion's anxious glance and he had a feeling he knew why. Before she could say anything, he waved one over and handed the driver a handful of coins with the simple request of, "Two for Brightvale please." With a relaxed but dignified ease, he smiled brightly, opening the door of the carriage for her and offering his arm to assist her inside.
She was such a sweet girl, hard working and homegrown. So unlike the ladies of court and general wealth, with their high expectations and fluttering eyes lined with color. The pressure to treat Cindy well, to make her feel special, was something he wanted to do rather than something he felt he had to do.
Entering after her, he reviewed the question she had offered mentally before speaking. "I've been to Brightvale a number of times as well, but it has been some time since my last visit. The nature of my work makes it rather...awkward at times to be there," he explained carefully. He wasn't sure what Cindy would make of his career, with her background as a farmer it could really go either way on the positive and negative spectrum. Wanting to hold off on that a bit longer, he tried to offer a new question, but his mind was drawing blanks right an left. Truly he was hopeless when it came to the icebreakers of dating.
