So, I bought one month of the new premium service, and I can't decide what I think of it. How do you guys feel about it? Yay or nay?

I've never had Neo premium, so I can't say lol. I've always wanted to try it though. I wish they had, like, a trial of it. Do they?

They don't have a trial, but right now you can buy one month of it for around $4 instead of the usual $8. That's the main reason I tried it, because of the sale right now. I'm having a bit of trouble justifying that much money for the few perks that premium offers, but if it were always $4 a month, maybe I'd keep it. Maybe.

Yeah, I always thought Neo's Premium was ridiculously high. >> I'm Premium on deviantART, which is perfect, but I could definitely not justify it on Neo, considering all I use it nowadays is for lurking and dailies.

Agreed. It's stupidly high. Now, if we could alias all of our side accounts and have the fifth pet on each of those, I might consider going premium full time. But I don't know... When you think about it all lumped together like that, there are a lot cooler things I could buy with a one time payment of $70.

I don't really remember anything about Premium - what sort of perks do you get? I always ignored it because I knew it would be forever out of my grasp d:

Since the revamp, you get - More monthly neopoints. Instead of 2k, I think we get 5k. Might be 10k though. I don't remember.
- A fifth pet slot. But you can only keep the fifth pet for as long as you have premium, and since you can only have premium on your main and there's no alias option, this only applies to one account, so you basically just get rewarded with an extra pet.
- Access to premium only boards where there's actually a member of TNT who talks to people and actually listens to feedback about the new service
- The super shop wizard. This pops up from a toolbar at the bottom of the page so you don't have to leave the page you're on to search and buy things things. It also searches ALL of the neopets shops instead of just a section of them like the regular wizard, so you're guaranteed the lowest price in user shops
- Weekly space faerie scratchcards that are always a winner. The prizes aren't that great though, unless you hit the NP reward.
- No ads, but you can get the same thing by installing an adblock extension on pretty much any browser, for free.
- Space Faerie Charm. This does a number of things pertaining to your luck on the site, but I've only ever seen it randomly double the NP payout of a game score.
- Premium double NP games. In addition to the regular double NP game of the day, you get access to whatever other game is paying out double NP for premium players.
- Something Has Happened. These are basically random events for premium members, in addition to the regular REs. The space faerie will randomly gift you with some NP or an item, somewhere in the 1-3k range.
- Monthly premium only collectible cards. Pretty much useless unless you like collecting.

Yeahh, not worth it in my opinion. =/ I don't like how the fifth pet option was handled at all...

Me neither. I know a lot of people expected them to make an extra slot purchasable from the NC mall, and then when it was announced that the 5th slot would be for premium members, a lot of people (myself included) thought that they'd keep the alias option and manage the extra slot like Subeta and other pet sites do. If you get a gold account on Subeta, for example, you get access to five extra pet slots. You can use these slots to adopt and abandon for the duration of your gold account, but once it runs out, you can't use the extra slots anymore. So if you abandoned one of your pets, you'd have to sign up for another month of gold account usage to adopt another pet. But the way TNT chose to handle it is awful and makes it such a weak perk. I'm so disappointed.

As a longtime member of premium (January of 2009), I adore the perks. -The Charter boards, for members over 3 months of premium. Our support system is fantastic there- between hundreds of adult members who are serious about the game (but we still have fun), there are next to no scams going on if they're a regular. -Charter members regularly give away NC items (birthdays are amazing.) -Instant support for faerie quests, frozen accounts, and stupid questions. -We're not the PC board xD I guess that in itself is what makes it worth it to me. I can't imagine playing neo without it (and to be fair, I play it a lot so I see the perks as more valuable to me )

Don't get me wrong. I like the perks, but for $8 a month, I expect a bit more.

So what exactly happens when you can no longer have the fifth pet? Do you pick one of the five to go up for adoption or is the most recent pet automatically deleted or ... something else?

When you cancel premium, you have to choose a pet to either abandon or transfer out, so you could move it to a side account if you wanted. If you abandon it though, it goes into limbo for ninety days where only you can adopt it back. This is so that if there are billing problems and your premium gets canceled, you don't lose your fifth pet over a misunderstanding or glitch.

With $70 I could pay for nearly half a month of board, or a trim, or a bunch of clothes, or my internet bill, almost my power bill, a bunch of clothes, 3 1/2 packages of diapers...
Lol I can think of so many more useful things to spend $70 on...
Then again I don't play neopets anymore. >D But still. I could also get 2 pedicures out of it!!
